Maine Governor Paul LePage today had to clarify what he meant yesterday when he said he wouldn’t mind President Donald Trump exerting some “authoritarian power.”
Yesterday LePage said, “Sometimes, I wonder that our Constitution is not only broken, but we need a Donald Trump to show some authoritarian power in our country and bring back the rule of law.”
He explained at a presser today, “Instead of using the word ‘authoritative,’ I used the word ‘authoritarian.'”
LePage talked up why he wants a strong leader like Trump in office and lamented how much America is going “down the tubes.”
He did go on to call President Obama a “dictator.”
